new blog? fashion democracy!

i have many online obsessions but one that never seems to go away is my fascination with fashion. i think fashion can be one of the most accesible examples of cutting-edge creativity. and, that is a big CAN BE because it obviously is not yet what it could be. but, access to fashion for a variety of body and wallet sizes is expanding. its just not happening fast enough.

as a result of this slow boom, not everyone knows that there are cute, fun, flattering, exciting, gorgeous, luxurious, thrifty clothes, accesories and shoes out there for everyone. so, i am here to help!

here are some of the reasons i think i may be good at this:

1. i have been shopping “plus size” for over 20 years and have encyclopedic knowledge of most plus-size options out there, be it “bricks and mortar” stores or online.

2. I love art, design and the creative spirit and love to see it reflected in beautifully made things, including clothes, accesories and footwear!

3. i prefer quality over quantity so i use my thrifty brain to hunt for the best deal for the best option. while i splurge on trends, i like to buy pieces that have staying power.

4. i have my own jewelry line which has the pleasantly plump ladies in mind. you can check it out here www.lesglaneuses.com. please check back often for updates.

5. i am a firm believer that everyone should feel proud of who they are and walk comfortably in their own skin. to that end, i advocate for fat acceptance. Fat girls are gorgeous and have every right to wear gorgeous clothes if they so desire. I am not going to wear a mumu!

So, let’s explore fashion democracy, stand up for ourselves and work it! More soon on the website and name. I like fashion democracy, but am open to recommendations!

Love,

Anzi

Barack LOVE in the Chi

I just experienced living in the same city as President-Elect Obama, for realz! I was walking back to the Fair Housing Clinic when the police sirens started buzzing and they cleared jackson from dearborn east to Michigan.  And then I saw the shiny black SUVs. Those were not ordinary SUVs! They were Obamabiles! Everyone in the street was buzzing from excitement, phones out, ready to grab a photo. Mine is not so good, but it is somethin’ to me!

I heart Barack!
